Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI) is pleased to invite proposals from faculty members/scientists/ practitioners belonging to its Indian and Canadian members to organize a conference on domains related to Agriculture in general however topics such as Sustainable Agriculture and Precision Agriculture are encouraged.
Most importantly, grant recipients will be required to present a policy paper based on conference proceedings to SICI as part of grant requirements. This policy paper will be shared with relevant stakeholders in order to assist them in making future decisions in the domain of inquiry.
Therefore, the applicants are advised to ensure that the selected theme of the conference has the potential to contribute to policy formation. Hence, a comprehensive approach with the right balance of qualitative and quantitative methods be devised to formulate the structure of the Conference programme. The topics include, but are not limited to:
- Precision/ Smart Farming
- Crop Science: Crop Improvement, Crop Protection, Soil Health, and Water Technology
- Post-harvest/Food Processing & Technology
- Animal husbandry
- Agriculture Economics, Marketing
- Entrepreneurship, and Wellbeing
Applicants from member institutions are advised to collaborate with member institutions, businesses, and industries, federal/central/state/provincial governments, as part of the proposed activities. Furthermore, SICI will appreciate engaging institutions and people of importance from institutions that are not members of SICI. However, the lead applicant must be from a member institution only.
Objectives
- Writing policies based on conference deliberations and presentations
- To bring researchers together from both countries to dwell on embryonic issues of Agriculture
- Facilitating universities/institutions in India and Canada to establish research partnerships
- Finding solutions, managing challenges, and to help in developing a joint understanding of pertinent issues
- Development of joint programmes and research collaborations
Eligibility criteria
- The applicant should be a full-time faculty member from SICI‘s member institution in good standing.
- The constituent colleges/institutes of member institutions of SICI are also eligible to apply for this grant.
- The proposed activity must include one Canadian and one Indian institution and industry partnerships.
Value of grant: INR 1, 50,000/- (One Lakh Fifty Thousand)
No. of awards: Shastri Institute may change the award number on the basis of the applications and proposals received.
