International Youth Day 2022: Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages (Articles/Essays Writing Competition)

The Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute is pleased to invite articles/essays to commemorate International Youth Day (IYD) on August 12, 2022. It is a day of both reflection and action. The United Nations created IYD to help draw awareness to the boundless potential of young people and some of the issues they face in a global society. It is celebrated widely by recognising the strength of young people who are relentlessly contributing to the communities and nations of the world, right from conflict resolution to innovating ways to participate in developing an inclusive society actively. This initiative honours the traits of young people and recognises the challenges that young people face today. To support the elimination of these problems, young people need access to appropriate resources for education, wellness, medicine and more.

This year, the key theme of IYD is "Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages". The world must utilise all generations' full potential to accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Generational unity is essential for sustained development. It allows people to be aware of the need for action across all generations to fulfil the SDGs and ensure that no one is left behind. In addition to highlighting these obstacles to intergenerational cooperation, the 2022 International Youth Day will also call attention to ageism, affecting young and older people while negatively impacting society.

Let us come together with SICI to celebrate International Youth Day (IYD) more creatively. A wide range of intergenerational themes are invited, such as ageing, familial relationships, youth and politics, generation gaps, social order, age stratification, parent-child relationships, changing livelihoods, health and social care, families and ageing, policies on ageing, and employment.

A winner's entry will be featured on the SICI's website and social media channels. Additionally, the best article/essay will be published as a featured article in SICI's Idea Journal.
